Mrs. Peggy Cleo Haymore

Mrs. Peggy Cleo Brinkley Haymore (Nanny), 89, of Mount Airy, passed away 18 August 2018.  Mrs. Haymore was born in Mount Airy, Surry County, North Carolina on 7 January 1929 to James William Brinkley and Selena Jane Brinkley.  She fell in love with and married Joe Carlie Haymore, Sr., on 13 June 1948 and celebrated 67 years of marriage until his passing in 2016.  Throughout her life, she was an example of unconditional love for all.  With a sweet smile and open heart, she served her family, friends, neighbors, and church family.  Cleo's greatest joys in life were her family and her knowledge of the gospel of Jesus Christ.   As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, she gave a lifetime of love and shared her talents by serving in many different positions within the church.  She was privileged to serve as the President of the Women's Relief Society organization, as a Stake Missionary, a Visiting Teacher, as a children's Primary worker, and in many other capacities as the Lord called her to help.  Her greatest service was within her own home, where she successfully raised three sons and was a wonderful wife who loved and supported her husband.  As a mother, she took great joy in supporting all of her sons through the Boy Scouts of America program, seeing each of them through to receiving their Eagle Scout Award.  She also has taken great pride in each of her grandchildren's accomplishments and loved telling everyone about the joys of being a grandmother and great grandmother.  She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, JC and Frankie Haymore of Mount Airy, Steve and Jennifer Haymore of Torrance, California, and Jerry and Monica Haymore of Pilot Mountain;  eleven wonderful grandchildren and their spouses, Jonathon Haymore, Gwen and Justin Bridegan, Richard and Sadie Haymore, Brad and Stephanie Haymore, Ryan Haymore, Bonnie and David White, Michelle Kim, Justin Haymore, Austin Haymore, Carlie Haymore, and Tessa Haymore; nine precious great grandchildren,  Reagan, Audrey, Eliza, Everett, Hudson, Lillian, Addilyn, Sophie, and Weston; and several special nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was also proceeded in death by her five sisters and four brothers:  Charlottie Frances Brinkley Norman (Lottie), Nannie Geneva Brinkley Marion, Doris Lee Brinkley Tickle, Helen Virginia Brinkley, Lois Worrell Brinkley Seivers, Robert William Brinkley, Earnest William Brinkley, Charles Garland Brinkley (Buck), and James William Brinkley, Jr.  The family will receive family and friends on Tuesday, 21 August 2018, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Golf Course Road in Pilot Mountain, NC, for thirty minutes prior to beginning the funeral at 11:00 a.m.  Bishop Jeff Simmons will be officiating.  Burial will follow at Skyline Memorial Gardens in Mt. Airy, NC.  In lieu of flowers, the family ask that memorial contributions be made to the general missionary fund of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints or to another charity of your choice. Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson is serving the Haymore Family.
