Mrs. Rachel Ann Jones Dawson

Mrs. Rachel Ann Jones Dawson, 63 of Cana passed away Saturday, February 27, 2016 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. She was born to the late Isaac Arlis and Ella Mae Vernon Jones on September 10, 1952. Rachel retired from Renfro and was a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church. After retirement, Rachel enjoyed helping at the Bowden Flea Market in Cana. She was a loving mother, grandmother, wife, sister and friend. Rachel was always ready to help family and friends however she could. She is survived by a very special friend and companion, Roger Gravely; her daughters and son-in-law, April and Ryan Waye, Stephanie Creed; grandchildren, Logan, Janie, Keegan and Levi,; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Wade Sechrist, Glenda Nunn, Virginia and Ralph Lendale Dawson and Janice and Rev. Roland McCraw; brothers and sister-in-law, Harold Jones and fiancée, Bonita Shinault and Tommy and Rhonda Jones; a dear friend, Gail Bowden. In addition to her parents, Rachel was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Lee Dawson. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Oak Ridge Baptist Church with Rev. David Sechrist officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, February 29, 2016 from 6:00pm until 8:00 pm at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy and at other times at the home of her sister, Glenda Nunn, 360 Oak Ridge Rd, Cana, VA.
