Mrs. Rachel Lambert Simmons

Mrs. Rachel Lambert Simmons, 71, of Mt. Airy passed away Sunday, October 21, 2012 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Surry County on November 12, 1940 to the late William Lambert and Gracie Hiatt Lambert Carter. Mrs. Simmons was a homemaker and was a member of Midway Baptist Church. She is survived by a daughter, Teresa Hester of Mt. Airy; two grandchildren and their spouses, Kristin and Alex Tilley, Devin and Amber Hester all of Mt. Airy; two great grandchildren, Jayden and Mason Hester; a sister and brother-in-law, Thelma and Frank Williams of Mt. Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Simmons was preceded in death by her husband, Erskine Eugene Simmons; a sister, Frances Willard. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 22, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Midway Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 12 Noon until time of the service at Midway Baptist Church.
