Mrs. Rachel Frances Smith

Mrs. Rachel Frances Smith, 84 of Lambsburg, VA passed away Thursday, January 30, 2014 at the Northern Hospital of Surry County. She was born in Surry County on April 24, 1929 to the late Ambrose and Donna Crotts Senter. She was a homemaker, loving mother , grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Edith and Edward Burnett; sons and a daughter-in-law, Wilmer Smith, Gene and Linda Smith; five grandchildren, Brittany, Jason, Devin, Jeff, and Melody; five great grandchildren, Josie, Marti, Jacob, Kaleb and Danielle; several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; nieces and nephews and a special friend, Inez Quesenberry. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Hurley Lee Smith; a daughter, Audrey Smith, sisters, Pearl Snow, Larthenia Snow, Maggie Upchurch and Lucy Shinault; brothers, Sterling Carlin, Emmett Senter and Woodrow Senter. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 PM Sunday, February 2, 2014 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Donald Bryant officiating. A private interment will be at the Stantliff - Faulkner Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy on Sunday from 2:30 until 3:30. The family would like to express their appreciation to the ICU Doctors and nurses at Northern Hospital of Surry County, Lisa Smith and Michelle Snow for the wonderful care Mrs. Smith was given during her illness.
