Mrs. Ramona Lowe Bowlin

Mrs. Ramona Lowe Bowlin, 87 of Mount Airy, passed away Saturday December 31, 2016 at Transitions Life Care Hospice in Raleigh, NC. She was born in Surry County on May 17, 1929 to the late Lloyd Lowe and Susie Matthews Lowe. Mrs. Bowlin was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who will be dearly missed by all that knew her. She loved blue grass music, old time flat foot, and clogging. Mrs. Bowlin was retired from Food Lion after 25 years of dedicated service. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Bowlin-Childress of Mount Airy; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Terry Bowlin and wife Vickie of King, and Jerry Bowlin of Clemmons; five grandchildren, Tammy Hondos of Winston-Salem, Russell Prevette of Charlotte, Justin Bowlin of Cary, Jessica Norris of Wilmington, and Jordan “Sonny Boy” Childress of Raleigh; seven great-grandchildren, Dina Hondos, Taylor Hondos, Dimitri Hondos, Kennedy Bowlin, Sawyer Bowlin, Apollo Childress, and Izabella Proffitt; and many special nieces and nephews who were always there to help. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bowlin was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Bowlin; a daughter, Brenda Hudspeth; a grandchild, Gerald Bowlin; four sisters, Mary Grimes, Lillian Pecor, Maxine Boyles, and Frances Collins; and five brothers, Grover Lowe, Joseph Lowe, W. A . Lowe, Eddie Lowe, and Lloyd Lowe. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 4, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Sam Holder officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Garden. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10:00 AM until time for the service at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Colon Cancer Alliance, 1025 Vermont Ave. NW #1066, Washington, DC 20005 in honor of Mrs. Bowlin’s late daughter, Brenda Hudspeth.
