Mrs. Renda Mae Robertson Shumate

Mrs. Renda Mae Robertson Shumate, age 71, of Mt. Airy, NC passed away on Saturday June 3, 2017 at Surry Community Health and Rehabilitation in Mt. Airy. She was born Surry County on October 23, 1945 to the late Rufus and Daisy Marion Robertson. She was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister Hilda Bowman and a brother Roger Robertson. Surviving are her husband James Shumate of the home; three sons and a daughter-in-law Keith Shumate of Lillington, NC; Steven and Tabitha Ann Shumate of Ararat, NC; Rodney Lee Shumate of the home; five grandchildren Ashley Shumate, Trista and Alex Badgett, Bryan Shumate, Anthony Shumate, Trent Shumate; three great-grandchildren, Kyleigh Shumate, Lily Grace Shumate, Maggie Badgett; sisters and brothers-in-law, Rachel Parks, of Siloam, Ronda and Larry Quesinberry, of Siloam, Teresa and Dean Southern of Yadkinville; brothers and sisters-in-law, JC and Jean Robertson, Ronnie and Kathy Robertson, Bobby and Lisa Robertson, all of Mt. Airy, Curtis and Sherry Robertson, of Pinnacle, Charles Hembree, of Dobson, Dale Hembree, and Dean Hembree, both of Mt. Airy. There will be a family conducted Memorial service 10:00 AM Thursday June 8, 2017 in the cemetery of Poplar Springs Baptist Church, Rev. Mickey Brooks, Rev. Joey Wall, and Rev. Dale Bass will conduct the service. There will be no formal services held at the funeral home. The family will receive friends at the home on Simpson Road, Mt. Airy. Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson is helping the Shumate family.
