Mrs. Reva Elsie Handy Sutphin Hodges

Mrs. Reva Elsie Handy Sutphin Hodges, 84 of Thomasville, NC, formerly of Dobson passed away Sunday, October 21, 2012 at the home of her daughter, Betty Williams and family. Mrs. Hodges was born in Patrick County, VA June 16, 1928 to the late William Alonzo and Crystal Elizabeth Rorrer Handy. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist Faith. Mrs. Hodges is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Betty Jean and Basil Williams of the home, Carol and Roger Jenkins of Mountain Park and Shirley and Kevin Whitt of Dobson; a son, Darrell Sutphin of Mt. Airy; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Donice Vaughn of Roanoke, VA Betty and David Biggs of Patrick Springs, VA and Mary Lee and David Young of Stuart, VA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Garland and Essie Handy of Martinsville, Charlie and Betty Handy, Leon and Nellie Handy, Billy and Debbie Handy all of Stuart; two special sisters-in-law, Carlene Handy and Betty Sue "Lollipop" Handy of Stuart. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hodges was preceded in death by two husbands, Hugh Carroll Sutphin and Warren Elgin Hodges; and two brothers, Denver "Dink" Handy and Hassell Handy. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 2, 2012 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy with Rev. Clyde Akers officiating. Burial will follow at Mayo Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1:00 until the time of the service.
