Mrs. Rose Claudia Byrne Carter, age 79 of Woolwine, passed away Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at Pioneer Community Hospital. She was born in Prince William County on September 5, 1931 to the late George Moran Byrne and Edith Eula Byrne. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her first husband, Jack Carl Carter; her second husband, Robert Renfro; a daughter, Janet Lavone Geris; three sisters, Opal Chinault, Lillie Clardy and Ruby Shifflett; and one brother, Dan Byrne. She was a member of Jesus Saves Baptist Church.
Mrs. Carter is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Jean and Darriel Salmons of Woolwine and Pamela and Jim Evatt of Sumerduck, Virginia; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Senie Bragg and Lois Crone, both of Warrenton and Alberta Hooks of South Carolina; four brothers, Robert Byrne of Nokesville, Sidney Byrne and Eddie Byrne, both of Woodbridge, and Gerald Byrne of Manassas; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Carter will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Jesus Saves Baptist Church with Brother Delmas Rorrer officiating. A graveside service will be held Monday, October 18, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Sudley United Methodist Church Cemetery in Catharpin, Virginia. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart.
