Mrs. Ruby Brooks Hill

Ruby Grace Brooks ("Cub") Hill passed away suddenly on December 19, 2016 at Pruitt Health in Rock Hill, SC, following an acute illness.
Ruby was born on November 16, 1928 in Alleghany County to Arthur Richard Brooks and Mabel Thompson Brooks Blevins. She graduated with honors from Glade Valley High School, completed one year at Appalachian Teacher's College (ASU) and one year of nurse's training at Martin Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Mt. Airy, NC (Northern Surry Hospital).
She married James Wallace Hill of Dobson, NC in 1947 and worked in the textile industry at Washington Mills in Dobson until her retirement, holding positions of instructor and clerk.
Mrs. Hill is preceded in death by her husband Wallace of 65 years, and her sisters Iris Gambill of Sparta, NC, Ruth Hutchins of Mt. Airy, NC, and Lucille McGrady of Laurel Springs, NC.
Surviving are two daughters, Dr. Patricia Hill of Raleigh and Statesville, NC and Sandi Stikeleather of York, SC, three grandchildren, Lindsay Edwards Cole (Deems) of Ayden, NC, Jonathan Hill Edwards (Tracey) of Raleigh, NC, and Joseph Hager of York, SC, a sister-in-law, Nellie W. Hill of Dobson, and a best friend of many years, Shelby Childress Brooks of Thurmond, NC. Ruby enjoyed the company of all her nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank Pruitt Health and Pruitt Health Hospice for the attentive care given to Ruby.
Visitation will be from 1-2 PM on Friday, December 23, at Moody Funeral Home in Dobson, followed by the funeral service at 2 PM, with Reverend Roger Hensley officiating. Interment will follow in Dobson City Cemetery.
Flowers are accepted by the family, or memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church in Dobson.
