Mrs. Ruth Shockley Collins

Mrs. Ruth Shockley Collins, age 77 of Stuart, Virginia passed away Friday at her home. She was born on December 1, 1935 in Patrick County to the late Fred and Lois Tucker Shockley. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Robbins; a brother, James Shockley and three brothers-in-law, Melvin Gilbert, Jim Quisenberry and Melvin Robbins. She was a member of Peter's Creek Baptist Church but enjoyed attending Trinity Baptist Church and Minnie's Chapel Wesleyan Church. She had retired from Panel Knitting Company and was a loving devoted wife, mother, mema, daughter, sister, aunt and friend.
Mrs. Collins is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, James Wallace Collins of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Camilla & Mike Comer of Madison, North Carolina; a son, Barry Warren Collins of Stuart; two grandchildren, Bryan Comer and Casey Hawks and husband, Chris; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Elva Gilbert of Martinsville, Joann & Bobby Corns of Stuart, Dorothy & Charles Overby of Stuart and Sharlene Quisenberry of Mt. Airy, North Carolina and several nieces & nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Collins will be held on Monday, June 24, 2013 at 3:00pm at Trinity Baptist Church with Dr. Jerry Whitlow officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Minnie's Chapel Wesleyan Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. until time of the service at the church and at other times at the home.
