Mrs. Ruth G. Gilbert

Mrs. Ruth Gilbert Gilbert, age 92 of Stuart, passed away Sunday, October 28, 2007 at R. J. Reynolds Patrick County Memorial Hospital. She was born in Patrick County on January 20, 1915 to the late Clee and Mary Ida Handy Gilbert. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gilbert was preceded in death by her husband, George Newman Gilbert; four sisters, Irene Shumate, Clarice McDaniel, Virginia Barton and Grace Boyd. She was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Gilbert is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Leon Stevens of Stuart; and two step grandchildren, Anita Scott and Anthony Stevens; two sisters, Mildred DeHart of Danville and Helen Spencer of Lawsonville, North Carolina; and one brother, William M. Gilbert of Martinsville.
Funeral services for Mrs. Gilbert will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Stuart with Rev. Mike Hundley officiating. Burial will follow in Wayside Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart.
