Mrs. Ruth Bruner Mills

Mrs. Ruth Bruner Mills, 97, of Mt. Airy passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Twelve Oaks Assisted Living in Mt. Airy. She was born in Surry County on January 31, 1919 to the late Dewey Curtis and Oma Wood Bruner. Mrs. Mills was retired from Renfro Corporation, and was a member of Mt. Airy Christian Church. Mrs. Mills had worked for Central Telephone and Pelton and Crane Company in Charlotte before her employment at Renfro. She was a loving mother and grandmother, and will be dearly missed by all her family and friends. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Sue Mills of Mt. Airy; a grandson and wife, Jeffery and Kristin Mills of Mt. Airy; a great granddaughter, Elsa Mills; a brother, D.C. Bruner of Mt. Airy; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Mills was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Mills; a sister and brother-in-law, Polly and Robert Johnson; a brother and sister-in-law, Coy and Peggy Bruner, and sister-in-law, Estelle Bruner. Funeral services will be held Saturday December 10, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kenneth Jessup and Minister David Kern officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 AM until time for the service at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy. The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Twelve Oaks and to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice.
