Mrs. Ruth Irene Bennett Pike

Mrs. Ruth Irene Bennett Pike, 89, of Edgewater, FL, passed away Sunday, July 17, 2016, at her home. Mrs. Pike was born in Surry County on January 30, 1927, to Jay and Jennie Goad Bennett. She was raised in Mt. Airy and worked in the car dealership business before her retirement. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Tom Haynes; a son and a daughter-in-law, Bob and Charlene Pike; a granddaughter, Lindy Haynes; a great granddaughter, Emma Rose Jimenez Pike; sisters and a brother-in-law, Virginia Midkiff and Polly and Lewis Simmons; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Pike was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Pike; a son, Frederick Timmons; and by a sister and brother-in-law, Lillian and George Bishop. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, July 22, 2016, at Skyline Memory Gardens by the Rev. Dwight Sechrist. There will not be a formal visitation. Moody Funeral Home of Mt. Airy is serving the Pike family.
