Mrs. Ruth Elzine Turner Tatum, age 81 of Stuart, passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at the Blue Ridge Nursing Center in Stuart. She was born in Patrick County on August 3, 1933 to the late Harvey and Josephine Mills Turner. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Tatum was preceded in death by one son, Charles G. Tatum; one sister, Mary Eloise Foddrell; and two brothers, Robert Lee Turner and Murray Alfonzo "Babe" Turner. She was a member of the Greater Tabernacle of Praise where she served as an usher for many years.
Mrs. Tatum is survived by her husband of 64 years, Charles Tatum of the home; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Terry Tatum of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Carvey Tatum of Stuart, James and Martina Tatum of Danville; two grandchildren, Marcel Tatum and Maurice Scott; one great-grandson, Amir Scott; and three sisters, Betty T. Vaughn, Margaret Greene Turner and Brenda Sue Smith Williams, all of Maryland.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the Greater Tabernacle of Praise with Elder Melton Roberson officiating. Burial will follow in Patrick Memorial Gardens. A wake will be held from Saturday at 12:30 until time of service at the church, and at other times at the home. Moody Funeral Home in Stuart is in charge of the arrangements.
