Mrs. Ruthie Jacqueline "Jackie" Draughn Shinault

Mrs. Ruthie Jacqueline “Jackie” Draughn Shinault, 81, of Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday morning, December 26, 2017, at Twelve Oaks Assisted Living Facility. Mrs. Shinault was born October 16, 1936, in Surry County, one of ten children born to the late Johnnie and Lizzie Gammons Draughn. Jackie retired from Surry Friends of Seniors and was a member of Little Mountain Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, James Shinault of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Vicky and Mike Creed of Mount Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Norma Wactor of Mount Airy; two grandsons, Christopher Bowman and wife Jordan of Elkin, and Adam Bowman, of Mount Airy; a great-grandson, Raiden Bowman; three step grandchildren; two sisters and three brothers-in-law, Zettie and Carl Smith of Abingdon, VA, Juanita and Carlis Edwards of Westfield, and Dean Hall of Mount Airy; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Wayne and Norma Draughn of Mount Airy, Roger Draughn of Dobson, and Walter and Shelby Draughn of Francisco; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Shinault was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Lou Hall and Frances Leftwich; and two brothers, Clifford Draughn and Arnold Draughn. The funeral service will be held Friday, December 29, 2017, at 11:00 AM at Little Mountain Baptist Church, with the Rev. Bill Watson and the Rev. Rayton Puckett officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday night from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
