Mrs. Sarah Opal Martin Gilbert

Mrs. Sarah Opal Martin Gilbert, age 87, of Martinsville passed away Saturday, May 20, 2017 at her home. She was born on May 28, 1929 in Patrick County to the late James D. Martin and Ada Barnard Martin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Melvin Gilbert; a son, David Mark Gilbert and a sister, Marie Martin Turman. She was a member of Rich Acres Christian Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Susan Eastwood and Jennifer Gesinski both of Chicago, IL; one son, Michael Gilbert of Stoneville, NC; and two grandchildren, William Clee Gilbert and Cody Joe Gilbert, both of Charlotte, NC.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart. Burial will follow in the Wayside Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
