Mrs. Sarah Jane Puckett Jenks

Mrs. Sarah Jane Shelor Puckett Jenks, age 79 of Meadows of Dan passed away Thursday June 3, 2010 due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was born on Nov. 27, 1930 in Carroll County to the late Willie Shelor and Delphia Terry Shelor. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her first husband, Elder Alvin Puckett; one son, Dennis Alvin Puckett; one sister, Bernice Shelor; and two brothers, Maurice and George Shelor. Mrs. Jenks was a graduate of Meadows of Dan High School and Valedictorian; was retired from United Elastic Corp. with over 30 yrs service; and a lifelong believer of Primitive Baptist faith.
Surviving are her husband, Guy Jenks, Sr. of the home; one daughter and son in law, Linda and Jimmie Gardner of Hillsville; three grandchildren, Jeremiah Gardner and fiancé Catherine Terry, Adam and Tonya Gardner, Joanna Gardner; seven great grandchildren; three step sons and daughters in law, Guy Jr. and Andrea Jenks of Salem, Timmy and Hannah Jenks of Troutville, Kevin and Beige Jenks of Roanoke; five step grandchildren, Shae, Chris, Raven, Joshua, and Ishmael Jenks; one sister and brother in law, Mary and John Hopkins of Collinsville; four brothers and sisters in law, Alden and Thelma Shelor of Meadows of Dan, Thomas and Arlene Shelor of Ridgeway, James and Terey Shelor of Roanoke, John Shelor of Meadows of Dan; special nephew and wife, Mike and Martha Worley; brothers in law and wives, Glen and Lorna Puckett, G.L. and Margaret Puckett; sisters in law and husbands, Dottie and Junior Hopkins, Arlene and Jim Schwalbach, Crystal and Mavin Harris, and Betty and John Jarrell.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at 1:00 PM at Old Bell Spur Primitive Baptist Church with Elders Tim McGrady and Edward Bowman officiating. Burial will follow in the Bell Spur Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday night from 6 to 8 at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart and at other times at the home, 3615 Terrys Mill Rd., Meadows of Dan, VA 24120. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Bell Spur Cemetery c/o Douglas Turman, 5465 Squirrel Spur Rd., Meadows of Dan, VA 24120. Online condolences may be sent to www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
