Mrs. Shirley S. Carroll

Mrs. Shirley Lou Spittler Carroll, age 52, of Floyd passed away Thursday, September 27, 2007 at her home. She was born in Globe, Arizona on December 13, 1954. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph N. "Joe" Carroll; her father, Paul Eugene Spittler; one sister, Pat Shelby; and one brother, Stanley Spittler. She had been a certified nurse's assistant, and was a member of the Topeka Church of the Brethren.
Mrs. Carroll is survived by a daughter, Yolanda Cook of Mason, West Virginia; a son, Billy Joe Westfall of Marion; four step-sons, , Shannon Carroll of Georgia, Danny Carroll of Missouri David Carroll of Georgia, and Larry Carroll of Georgia; three step-daughters, Kim Carroll, Jennifer Carroll, and Janet Carroll, all of Georgia; 30 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; her mother, Opal Heartong Spittler of Globe, Arizona; two brothers, Curly Spittler and Barry Spittler, both of Globe, Arizona; a sister, Beanie Reader of Meadows of Dan, a special sister-in-law and caregiver, Phyllis Simmons, and a caregiver Amy Underwood.
A graveside service for Mrs. Carroll will be held Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at the Puckett Family Cemetery in Meadows of Dan with Pastor Michael Varner officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart.
