Mrs. Shirley Turner Moore, age 67 of Stuart, passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at her home. She was born in Patrick County on July 5, 1941 to the late Stephens Homer and Lillian Mize Turner. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by a husband, Charles Coalson; three brothers, Oran Akers "Bob" Turner, Walter Turner and Cecil "Mop" Turner; two half-brothers, Gene Turner and Irvin Turner; and one half-sister, Catherine "Cassie" Seagraves. She was a certified nurses' assistant who provided private care to over 80 people in her home over a period of 20 years, and was a member of Elamsville Primitive Baptist Church.
Mrs. Moore is survived by her husband, Howard Leon Moore of the home; three daughters and a son-in-law, Pamela and Paul Young of Ararat, Sandra Spangler of Stuart and Kim Smart of Spring Hill, Florida; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Sharon Smart of Kernersville, North Carolina and Bobby and Susan Foster of Patrick Springs; six grandchildren, Stephens "Stevie" Spangler, Mia Anglin, Brittany Becerra, Tasha Smart, Dustin Smart and Amber Foster; two brothers, Curtis Turner and Clyde Turner, both of Stuart; and two sisters, Marie Foster of Martinsville and Nancy Shively of Ferrum.
Funeral services for Mrs. Moore will be held Saturday at 3:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Elder David Minter officiating. Burial will follow in the Turner Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 pm to 8:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart, and at other times at the home.
