Mrs. Sylvia Belcher Helms

Mrs. Sylvia Belcher Helms, age 72 of Meadows of Dan passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at Pioneer Health Services of Patrick County, Inc. in Stuart. She was born in Patrick County on January 25, 1937 to the late Lester and Lena Harris Belcher. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Helms was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Belcher and Clay Belcher, and one sister, Zella Conner. She was a member of Conner's View Primitive Baptist Church, and had worked for United Elastic Corporation and Laurel Meadows Nursing Home.
Mrs. Helms is survived by her husband, Claude Helms of the home; one son, Wayne Helms of Rocky Mount; two grandchildren, Zachary Helms and Nikole Helms; three brothers, Calvin Belcher of Stuart and Coy Belcher and Bernice Belcher, both of Woolwine; and one sister, Erma Adams of Martinsville.
Funeral services for Mrs. Helms will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Conner's View Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Edward Bowman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
