Mrs. Sylvia Irene Marshall Thornburg

Mrs. Sylvia Irene Marshall Thornburg, 85, of Mt. Airy passed away Sunday, October 22, 2017 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem. She was born in Carroll County, VA on June 25, 1932 to the late D.E. and Ola Tobler Marshall. Mrs. Thornburg was a retired CNA from Northern Hospital of Surry County, and was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church. She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Steven Thornburg and Thia, Danny Thornburg and Patricia, Randy Thornburg; grandchildren, Geoffrey Thornburg, Danny Ray Thornburg, Jr., Charles Thornburg; a great grandchild, Noah Thornburg; a sister, Inez Hooker; her fur baby’s, Squeaky, Patches, Tori, Snowball, and Bandit; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents Mrs. Thornburg was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Ellis Thornburg; a sister, Martha Goins; brothers, Howard, Bill, and Claude Marshall. Funeral services will be held Wednesday October 25, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Highland Park Baptist Church with Dr. Darrell Tate officiating. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10:00 AM until time for the service at the church. Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy is serving the family.
