Mrs. Treva Corder Davis

Funeral services for Treva Viola Corder Davis, 95 of Dobson, NC will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, September 14, 2012 at Fairview Baptist Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Her body will remain at Moody-Davis Funeral Home until taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will greet friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M on Thursday, September 13, 2012 at Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson. Mrs. Davis died peacefully in her sleep after eight years of declining health. She was born on February 10, 1917 in Surry County to Cora Lee Wilmoth Corder and Grady Clifton Corder. She was married to Oliver Leonard Davis on October 9, 1940. Mrs. Davis was a member of Fairview Baptist Church and attended as long as her health allowed. She was a homemaker and a farmer's wife who devoted her life to her family. Her many activities included reading, gardening, sewing and quilting. During the seventies she taught quilting at Surry Community College. Mrs. Davis was a "salt of the earth" type person who lived her life based on her Christian values; she was an honest, hardworking woman who always looked for the best and expected the best from people. She loved to laugh, was always encouraging and never complaining. She could take the least of anything; get the most out of it and be satisfied. Mrs. Davis is survived by her daughter, Wanda, and son-in-law, Richard Croom of Dobson; her sister Estelle Vernon of Dobson; and sister-in-law Geneva Corder of Winston-Salem. She was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Annie and Dillard Corder, a brother, Roger Corder and brother-in-law, Jessie Vernon. A heartfelt thank you goes to two special friends and caretakers, Bonnie Edmonds of State Road, and Carolyn Shockley of Dobson who enabled Mrs. Davis to live at home with Wanda and Richard until the last few weeks. The family also wishes to thank the staff of Yadkin Valley Home Health, Elkin Healthcare, Hugh Chatham Hospital, Dr. Tony Canupp, and Dr. Paul Garrison for their contribution to the care of Mrs. Davis. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Fairview Baptist Church Life Center Building Fund c/o Tommy Edmonds, 6678 NC Hwy 268 Dobson, NC 27017. Moody-Davis is serving the Davis Family.
