Mrs. Vallie Ann Hodges Bryant, 91, of Elkin entered the Portals of Heaven on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Surry County on October 17, 1925 to the late Richard and Elector Hodge Hodges. Mrs. Bryant was a loving and devoted homemaker who devoted her life to serving her Lord and attending to the needs of her family. She was a cook at Captain’s Reef restaurant for many years and worked diligently by her husband’s side on their family farm. Together they raised nine children and instilled into each one their morals and work ethics. Her legacy will long live in each of them. Left to cherish her memory are her devoted children and spouses, Richard (Kathy) Bryant, L. Wade (Carol Moser) Bryant, Dr. Willie (Lib Stanley) Bryant, Carter (Lynn Stanley) Bryant, Vanessa (Jimmy) Jester, Shelby Maureen Gates ( Dale). Eva Freeman and Rebecca (Dr. Chris) White; a son-in-law, Junior Martin; twenty beloved grandchildren; thirty seven great-grandchildren; sixteen great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Lois Davis, Frances Bean, Lettie Reid , Yvonne and Brady Smith; a brother and sister-in-law, Pless and Rachel Hodges. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Lemuel Bryant; a daughter, Edna Bryant Martin; two grandchildren Theresa Bryant Richardson and Danny Bryant; three sisters, Bessie Cave, Alice Mitchell and Etta White; a brother, Charles Hodges. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home by Dr. Willie Bryant and the Rev. David O’Neal with burial to follow in Little Vine Primitive Church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 6 to 8 pm . Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC or to Bible Assembly Baptist Church, 2003 CC Camp Road Elkin, NC 28621. Special thanks to Woltz Hospice Home and to all the love and support to the family. The family has requested that no food be taken to her home.
