Mrs. Velva Cox Coleman

Mrs. Velva Lee Coleman, age 89 of Stuart passed away Sunday morning at the RJR Patrick County Memorial Hospital. She was born in Patrick County on Aug. 16, 1918 to the late John Fred Cox and Ida Agnes Slate Cox. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Hughes Coleman; a son, Joe Coleman; two sisters, Goldie Gau, Gracie Turner; and two brothers, W. Nash Cox, and W. Odell Cox, Sr.
Surviving are a sister, Lucille Dickerson of Greenville, SC; two brothers, H.A. Cox of Roanoke, Charles Cox of Elizabethtown, KY; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be a graveside service held Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2007 at 2:00 PM at Minnie's Chapel Church Cemetery with Rev. Jim Churchwell officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart from 12:30 to 1:30.
