Mrs. Vergie Taylor Jones Williams

Mrs. Vergie Taylor JonesWilliams, age 88 of Jackson, Tennessee, and formerly of Stuart, Virginia, went to join her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, July 29, 2008. She was born in Patrick County on March 8, 1920, and was preceded in death by her father, Jesse Jones; mother, Ellen Jones; husband, Gilbert Williams, daughter, Jayne Mansfield; grandson, Ricky L. Wimmer; and sisters, Kathryne Williams, Belle Thomas, Emma Williams and Virginia Sutphin. She had been a member of Poplar Corner Baptist Church in Jackson, Tennessee.
Mrs. Williams is survived by six daughters, Shirley Sumner of Roanoke, Frances McGill of Sevierville, Tennessee, Glenice Mayfield and husband, Harold, of Jackson, Tennessee, Gail Lundberg of New Port Rickey, Florida, Linda Hunter of Roanoke and Donita Studd and husband, Alan, of Lorain, Ohio; two sons, Elwood Williams and wife, Jan, of Santa Paula, California and Marshall Williams of Middleburg, Florida; 21 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren, all of who adored her. Vergie was always a woman of faith, a beloved mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed.
Funeral services for Mrs. Williams will be held Saturday, August 2, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor Carl White of Poplar Corner Baptist Church officiating. The family would like to express their gratitude for his travel. The family will receive friends on Saturday between noon and 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
