Mrs. Viola Jane Wood Welch

Mrs. Viola Jane Wood Welch, age 95, of Dobson, North Carolina passed away on Saturday September 9, 2017. She was born on July 29, 1922 and was preceded in death by her parents. She was a retired Custodian from Dobson Elementary School with 28 years of service, she was a member of Dobson First Baptist Church. In addition to her parents Retta Wood and Lindsey Whittington she was preceded in death by her husband Vincent Edmond Welch in 2001; a son James Edmond Welch Sr.; infant son; brother James Hamlin. Surviving are her daughter Betty Welch Jarvis and husband Neil Jarvis of Winston-Salem, NC; son and daughter-in-law Charles Dale Welch Sr. and wife Judy, of Dobson; grandchildren James Welch, Jr., John Welch and wife Cheryl, Anita Kiser, Kimberly Welch, Dale Welch Jr., Sherri Stockner and husband Barry, Brandon Welch and wife Melissa, ten great grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren. a special sister-in-law Elena Hamlin; niece Jamie Luffman. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday September 12, 2017 at Dobson First Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Dobson City Cemetery. Rev. Cory Honeycutt will conduct the services. The family will receive friends at Moody-Davis Funeral Home on Monday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Her body will remain at Moody-Davis Funeral Home until carried to the church to lie in state 30 min. before the service. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Dobson First Baptist Church PO Box 278, Dobson, NC 27017 or to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mt. Airy, NC 27030. The family would like to give a special thanks to all her loving care givers especially Mary Beall and granddaughters Cheryl and Destiny Welch.
