Mrs. Violet Mae Freedle Hayes

Mrs. Violet Mae Freedle Hayes, 86, of Elkin passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Davidson County on April 15, 1930 to the late Walter Lee and Violet Mae Sink Freedle. Mrs. Hayes retired from Thomasville Furniture Industries after which she became a homemaker who worked tirelessly on the family farm. She was a dedicated member of Knobbs Baptist Church. She is survived by her son, Thomas Walter Hayes of the home; two step-daughters, Judy Mendenhall and husband Danny and Lois Sizemore; a step-son, Curtis Hayes and wife Sandra; two step-grandchildren, Brian and Matthew Sizemore; sisters and brother-in-law, Madeline Roberts, Betty Bradshaw and Mary Moretz and Jim; and brother and sister-in-law, Dennis Freedle and Mary. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hayes was preceded in death by her loving husband of thirty-nine years, Willie Cebron Hayes; a step-son-in-law Grayland Sizemore; a step-granddaughter, Sandi Hayes; and a step-grandson, Mark Mendenhall three sisters, Elizabeth Hughes, Ruth Marsh and Patricia Ann Freedle; and five brothers, Walter Lee Freedle, Jr., Jimmy Freedle, Johnny Freedle, Richard Freedle, and Lester Freedle. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Knobbs Baptist Church, in Elkin, with the Rev. Richard Caudill officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday one hour prior to the service from 1:00 – 2:00 at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Knobbs Baptist Church, 8505 Austin Traphill Road, Elkin, North Carolina 28621.
