Mrs. Violet Paunee Newman Rorrer, age 76 of Stuart, passed away Thursday, February 11, 2010 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was born in Roanoke on March 15, 1933 to the late Eugene H. and Violet Clifton Newman. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Rorrer was preceded in death by one sister, Moncella Gray. She was a member of Fairystone Baptist Church, and had retired from Liberty Fabrics with over 40 years of service.
Mrs. Rorrer is survived by her husband, Marvin G. Rorrer of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Pam Rorrer and Mike and Janet Rorrer, all of Stuart; three grandsons, Matthew, Ryan and Wesley Rorrer; one great-grandchild, Austin Rorrer; four sisters, Wanetta Doss of Stuart, Betty Jenkins of Ridgeway, Nagatha Wirt of Craig County and Evelena Dalton of Meadows of Dan; and four brothers, Cecil Newman of Vesta, Garvin Newman of Florida, Aubrey Newman of Daleville and Elroy Newman of Lynchburg.
Funeral services for Mrs. Rorrer will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Fairystone Baptist Church with Pastor Jim Dunn and Elroy Newman officiating. Burial will follow in Patrick Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church, and at other times at their home.
