Mrs. Virginia Dare Holder Collins

Mrs. Virginia Dare Holder Collins, age 90 of Mt. Airy, passed away Friday, December 11, 2015, at Central Continuing Care. She was born in Surry County on February 13, 1925 to Benjamin Franklin and Fannie Lou Golding Holder. Mrs. Collins worked at Spencers Inc., in Food Services at Bannertown and Tharrington Schools until retirement, was a hostess at Hardees until the age of 84 and a volunteer at the hospital. She was a true servant of God. Surviving are a daughter, Sharon Smith; a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Fran Collins; grandchildren, Brandon D. Hawks and wife Stacia, Ronalda D. Parries and husband Sean; great granddaughter, Rachel E. Parries and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Collins was preceded in death by her husband, Golding Frazier Ronald Collins; sisters, Lula Leftwich, Maude Wright, Cena Snow, Ruby Cockerham, Ethel Snow Girtie Holder and baby Zora Holder; and brothers, Everette Holder, Crissie Holder and Morgan Holder. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, December 14, 2015 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Richard Loman. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 9:00 AM.
