Mrs. Virginia Elorene Hairston Conner

Mrs. Virginia Elorene Hairston Conner, age 86 of Woolwine, passed away Sunday, July 6, 2008 at the Blue Ridge Rehabilitation Center in Martinsville. She was born in Lakey, Kentucky on January 9, 1922 to the late Cornel and Maxie H. Hairston. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Conner was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Ellis Lee Conner; four sisters, Clessie Hairston, Mattie Barbour, Nadine McDaniel and Christine Via.; and three brothers, Rev. Kelsie Hairston, Conrad Hairston and Tely Hairston. She was a member of Mount Nebo Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Mrs. Conner is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Bernard Johnson of Spencer; five grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; and one sister, Lynol Blanche Ingram of Bassett.
Funeral services for Mrs. Conner will be held Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Rev. James Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow in the Conner Family Cemetery.
