Mrs. Virginia Foley Haynes

Mrs. Virginia Foley Haynes, age 89 of Stuart, passed away Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at the Blue Ridge Nursing Center in Stuart. She was born in Patrick County on October 14, 1920 to the late Walter Jackson Foley and Minnie Alice Massey Foley. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Haynes was preceded in death by her husband, Monroe Edward Haynes, Sr.; six brothers, Kyle, Coolidge, Roy, Robert, Edgar and Eldee Foley; and three sisters, Ether Shough, Era Wade and Bertha Marshall. She had been a member of the New Hope Church of the Brethren for nearly 70 years, during which time she was a member of the Church Women's Fellowship and Ladies Aid Quilting Group, and was a Children's Sunday School and VBS teacher. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fairystone Fire Department.
Mrs. Haynes is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Jimmy Cannaday of Floyd, Carolyn and Gaylon Moran of King, North Carolina; four sons, M. Edward "Pete", Jr. and Peggy Haynes of Stuart, Walter and Marlyn Haynes of Blackburg, Ronnie Haynes and Anita Foley of Stuart and Kennie and Sandy Haynes of Stuart; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Alphalene Adams of Stuart and Christine Blackard of Mayodan, North Carolina.
Funeral services for Mrs. Haynes will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the New Hope Church of the Brethren with Pastor Rick Randall, Rev. Mike Varner and Jack White officiating. Burial will follow in the Ross Harbour United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart.
