Mrs. Virginia Hughes Lancaster, age 77 of Hillsville, and formerly of Stuart, passed away Monday, February 1, 2010 at Pioneer Community Hospital. She was born in Patrick County on June 10, 1932 to the late Hampton and Nannie Crisman Hughes. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lancaster was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert C. Lancaster, Sr., and five brothers, Glenn Hughes, Harry Lee Hughes, Murry Hughes, Ted Hughes and Bill Crisman. She was a member of True Gospel Baptist Church and had worked for Pannill Knitting and Charmell Manufacturing. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Mrs. Lancaster is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Juanita Carol Johnson of Roanoke and Nannette and Larry Haden of Stuart; two sons and daughters-in-law, Herbert C. "Butch" and Teresa Lancaster of Stuart and Mark and Susan Lancaster of Critz; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Howard Hughes and Dewey Hughes, both of Stuart.
Funeral services for Mrs. Lancaster will be held Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor Darrell Boles officiating. Burial will follow in Patrick Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
