Mrs. Virginia Belle Brightwell Tinnell

Mrs. Virginia Belle Brightwell Tinnell, age 97, of Mount Airy, NC, died Thursday morning, January 10, 2013, at Golden Living Center. Mrs. Tinnell was born on April 18, 1915, in Halifax County, VA, daughter to the late Joseph and Kate Brightwell. She was a member of Haymore Memorial Baptist Church and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Mt. Airy Chapter No. 18 and the Electa Chapter No. 33 in Roanoke, VA, for over 50 Years. Mrs. Tinnell is survived by a son, Marvin Tinnell and wife, Bonnie Tinnell of Henry, VA, and a daughter, Marie Wood and husband, Tycho Wood, Jr. of Mt. Airy, NC; daughter-in-law, Ann Tinnell of Blacksburg, VA; sister, Rosalie Lafferty of Waynesboro, VA; grandchildren Mark Tinnell of Christiansburg, VA, Paul Tinnell and wife, Laurie Tinnell of Bradenton, FL, Rebecca Parrish of Indian Trail, NC, Melody McGhee and husband, CSM Michael McGhee of Blackstone, VA, Christy Huffman and husband, George Huffman of Charlottesville, VA, Tina Sopp of Apopka, FL, Traci Giordano and husband, David Giordano of Deltona, FL, Chad Wood of Mooresville, NC, and Dr. Amy Howell and husband, Dr. Eric Howell of Greenville, NC; thirteen great grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Tinnell was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Tinnell, Sr.; a son, Rev. Clayton, Tinnell, Jr.; two brothers, Carl Brightwell and Joseph Brightwell; two sisters, Hazel Wright and Christine Decker; and a granddaughter, Carolyn Tinnell. The funeral services will be held Monday, January 14, 2013, at 10:30 am at Haymore Memorial Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Robert McCrary. The family will receive friends on Monday an hour before services at the church. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Roanoke, VA, at 3:30 pm, conducted by Bishop Dwayne Pruitt.
