Mrs. Wavie Lyon Haden Stephens, 84 of Woolwine, passed away at Pioneer Community Hospital Friday evening. She was born in Patrick County February 16, 1926 to the late James Elma and Lillian Pratt Lyon. She was a Homemaker and a member of Jacks Creek Primitive Baptist Church. Mrs. Stephens was also preceded in death by her first husband; Ernest Haden, two sons; Roger and Rudy Haden, a sister; Elva Lyon and three brothers; Sherman, Dallas and Alvin Lyon.
Surviving Mrs. Stephens are her husband; Reo Stephens, a daughter; Regena Handy and husband Jimmy of Woolwine, Step-children; Glen Stephens of Sandy Ridge, N.C. and Susanne Fulk of Pine Hall, N. C., Eight grandchildren; Dorinda Haden Clark, Melanie Haden Colley, Todd Handy, Mark Haden, Darla Haden, Laura Haden Anglin, Josh Handy and Michele Haden Stephens, Seven great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, five step grandchildren and a brother; Hubert Lyon of Woolwine.
Funeral services for Mrs. Stephens will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, April 19, 2010 at Jacks Creek Primitive Baptist Church with Elder David Kamoda and Elder Donnie Conner officiating. Burial will follow at Jacks Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6 to 8 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart.
