Mrs. Willie Mae Crouse Vernon Moser, 71, of Dobson passed on Sunday morning July 27, 2008 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home after a brief illness. She was married to the late Wade Arnold Moser and the late Claude Allen Vernon. Mrs. Moser was born December 29, 1936 in Surry County to the late Buster Dewitt and the late Mary Ann Holloway Crouse. She was a long-time resident of Dobson, a member of Dobson First Baptist Church, and retired from Tultex Manufacturing. Mrs. Moser was known for her gardening, cooking, hospitality, and tackling any problem coming her way with common sense and grace. She was survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Debbie Vernon-Smith and Michael O. Smith of Dobson; one grandchild, Emily Smith of Dobson; two step-grandchildren, Michelle Flint and her husband Steed of Hubert, NC, Dennie Moser of Boone, NC; and two step-great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Kelsie Flint; two brothers and sister-in-laws, Jack and Mary Crouse of High Point, and Rev. Larry and Judy Crouse of Mount Airy; three sisters and brother-in-laws, Mary Lou and Tony Lawson of Dobson, Imogene (Polly) White of Mount Airy, Helen and Ronnie Bryant of Mount Airy. Mrs. Moser was also preceded in death by a brother, Rufus Crouse; a sister, Carrie Lou Crouse; and a step-son, Steve Moser. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, July 31, 2008, at Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson. Mrs. Moser will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the funeral service to be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, August 1, 2008 at Dobson First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Michael Macon and Rev. Wade Tucker officiating. Burial will follow in the Dobson City Cemetery. The family would like to extend special appreciation to family and friends, who made her final days a testament to the kindness and generosity she exhibited during her life as well as the excellent hospital staff at Hugh Chatham Hospital, Forsyth Hospital and to the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, North Carolina 27030 for The Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home currently under construction in Dobson.
