Mrs. Willie Mae Edwards Poore

Mrs. Willie Mae Edwards Poore, 86, of Mount Airy passed away Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. She was born in Surry County January 25, 1931 to the late Eli J. and Grace E. Cooke Edwards. Mrs. Poore was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a homemaker and a member of Franklin Heights United Methodist Church. Left to cherish her memories are, her husband, Lester R. Poore; daughters, Gina Poore and friend, Brent Stanley, and Trudy Willard and husband, Mickey; son, David Poore and wife, Susan; grandchildren, E.J. Poore and wife, Tiffany, Lindsey Knight, Zachary Willard, Pastor Jordon Willard and wife, Veronica, and Andrew Willard; step grandchildren, Jonathan Simmons and wife, Jennifer, and Breanne Stanley; great-grandchildren, Emma Grace Davis, Barrett Knight, Abi Willard, Ella Willard, Addison Poore, Aiden Poore, Karis Willard, and Josiah Willard; step great-grandchild, Jake Simmons; nephews, Wilburn Tilley and Larry Tilley. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Poore was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Roberts and husband, Clyde; and an aunt who was raised as her sister, Foye Tilley and her husband, Ralph; and an infant brother, Ray J. Edwards. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bud Cameron and Pastor Dwight Cartner officiating. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy from 12:30 PM until the time for the service. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial donations be made to Franklin Height United Methodist Church, 416 S. Franklin Rd., Mt. Airy, NC 27030.
