Mrs. Winona "Fern" Sykes Key

Mrs. Winona "Fern" Sykes Key, 73 of Mt. Airy passed away Monday, November 12, 2012 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem. She was born in Surry County on June 26, 1939 to the late Coy Leonard and Essie Faye Snow Sykes. Mrs. Key was retired from Renfro Manufacturing and was a member of East Side Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, James Lee Key of the home; a son, Richard Anthony Key of Mt. Airy; a grandchild and spouse, Tamela Marie Key and Donavon Nichols of Galax, VA; two sisters and brother-in-law, Launa Maebeth Wilson, Ginger Coylee and Frank Bode all of Mt. Airy; a brother, Teddie Elwood Sykes of MS. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Key was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Allen Sykes. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 15, 2012 at 2:00 PM at East Side Baptist Church with Pastor John Tolliver and Rev. Paul Bunke officiating. Burial will follow in the Snow Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy.
