Mrs. Yvonne Smith Mabe

Mrs. Frances Yvonne Smith Mabe, age 74, of Ararat, VA, passed away Thursday, June 22, 2017, at the Woltz Hospice Home. Mrs. Mabe was born in Patrick County on February 11, 1943 to Joe and Effie Hawks Smith. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and dear friend. Among those who will always cherish her memory are a daughter, Tammy Mabe; a son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Teresa Mabe; grandchildren, Cody Sawyers, Gwendolyn Sawyers and Marissa Mabe; a sister, Helen Norman, a brother and sister-in-law, Roy and Geraldine Smith; special sisters-in-law, Dorothy Bowman and Alene Pell; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Mabe was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Mabe; a son, Charles Mabe; a sister, Martha Wright; and brothers, William Smith, Claude Smith, and Buford Smith. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, June 25, 2017, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Dean Eaton. Burial will follow in Willis Gap Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at the funeral home and at other times at the home of Danny and Teresa Mabe, 560 Round Peak Ch. Rd., Mt. Airy.
