Ms. Bertie Mae Goodman

Ms. Bertie Mae Goodman, age 63 of Stuart, passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at Pioneer Community Hospital of Patrick in Stuart. She was born in Carroll County on August 19, 1952 to the late Eden Walker Goad and Della Quesinberry Goad. In addition to her parents, Ms. Goodman was preceded in death by two brothers, Dorsie Goad and Sidney Allen. She was an amazingly strong woman who, as a single mother, raised her two children on her own. She was also a wonderful grandmother who was affectionately called Granny Bertie.

Ms. Goodman is survived by one son, Samuel Austin Barnett of Stuart; one daughter and son-in-law, Tammy Marie and Jerry Adkins of Ridgeway; seven grandchildren, Samantha, Joshua and Diana Adkins, and Alexis, Danielle, Amber and Jeremy Barnett; eight great-grandchildren, Levi Brammer, Mikaylla Adkins, Dilan Steele, Bryant, Cailyn, Conner and Eli Adkins and Isabella Goings; two sisters, Wanda Isley of Patrick Springs and Wilma Pettigo of Dugspur; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 12, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor David Heath officiating. Burial will follow in the Silver Leaf Cemetery in Dugspur.
