Ms. Betty Selena Smith Barr

Ms. Betty Selena Smith Barr, age 75, was a firm believer in the Lord, a loving mother of three, courageous grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. After a hard-fought battle, she passed away on the 10th of January 2022 at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist hospital in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Ms. Lena, (as many would refer to her as) was born on May 30, 1946, in Mount Airy NC, to the late Tom and Gracie Tucker Smith. She survived her late husband L.B. Barr of Lake City, SC. Ms. Barr was a very hard working, dedicated and sincere woman. Anyone that knew her would know that she would do anything for you that she possibly could. She loved very hard, and always wanted the best for her family. She could be very direct and straight forward but she continuously did it with love behind it. She enjoyed working in her yard, canning food, listening to gospel music and going to church. She was an active member of Zion Baptist Church for many years. Betty will be profusely missed by her loved ones. Surviving is her daughter, Barbara Barr Brown, two sons, Styfon Barr and wife Lorraine, & Terry Barr; grandchildren, Shalimar Brown Wilkerson and Anthony, Fantashia Brown, Ronald Brown, Jr., Laimonica Smith, Chancey Barr, Terry Barr, II & Taleaha Barr; great-grandchildren, Anthony Wilkerson, III, Jaida Brown, Josiah Stewart, Aaliyah Brown, Quincey Smith, Jaylen Smith, Joshua Smith, Lilliana Smith, Zion Martin, Kimora Martin, & Aaliyah Barr, a host of brothers and sisters; along with many nieces and nephews who adore her with all of their hearts. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at 2:00 PM in the Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Vanessa Hughes Cannady officiating. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive guests from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
