Ms. Brenda Jane Venable Dunning

Ms. Brenda Jane Venable Dunning, 69 of Mt. Airy passed away at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center on Thursday, August 15, 2013. She was born in Surry County on March 6, 1944 to the late Coy Elzephan and Lottie Sawyers Venable. Ms. Dunning retired from Moses Cone Behavioral Health Center and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mt. Airy. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Rodney Blane of Farmville, VA and Tammy Dunning of Mt. Airy, NC; two grandchildren, Sarah Katherine Dunning and Olivia Rae Dunning; a sister, Jackie Lanier of High Point, NC; two brothers-in-law, David Sellers of Whiteville, NC and Graham Tillley of Mt. Airy; and many special nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Ms. Dunning was preceded in death by four sisters, Josie O'Neal, Cleo Taylor, Betty Tilley, and Peggy Sellers; three brothers, Gilbert, Ed and Wilford Venable. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, August 18, 2013 at Mt. Airy First Baptist Church with Dr. Roger Gilbert officiating. Burial will follow in the Little Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy from 6:00 until 8:00 PM where she will remain until the time to be taken to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the service.
