Ms. Christene Michelle Mabe, age 38 of Knoxville, Tennessee, and formerly of Patrick County, Virginia, passed away Saturday, June 5, 2010 in Knoxville. She was born in Patrick County on February 23, 1972, and was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Joffery Mabe and Coy Rakes. She attended Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church in Knoxville, had worked for Anam Cara Massage and Body Works in Knoxville, and with WAVV, Women Against Verbal Violence. She was also a member of the Healing Arts Community and was involved in the Weeping Angel Foundation, an organization that provides holistic health care to indigent and poor communities.
Ms. Mabe is survived by her parents, Roger D. and Sharon G Rakes Mabe of Woodlawn; one son and daughter-in-law, Cody and Chasity Mabe of Galax; one brother and sister-in-law, Joey and Daphne Mabe of Hillsville; two stepchildren, Maria and Tony Rivera of Knoxville; her grandmothers, Mabel Rakes and Virginia Mabe, both of Stuart; and a special niece, Abby Mabe.
Funeral services for Ms. Mabe will be held Friday, June 11, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Rev. Scott Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in the Mabe Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart, and at other times at the home of her grandmother, Virginia Mabe.
