Ms. Faye Jones

Ms. Faye Jones, 92, of Mt. Airy passed away peacefully Friday, October 27, 2017 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Faye was born in Surry County on April 11, 1925 to the late Egbert Hester and Lila Scott Jones. In addition to her parents, Faye was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Mary Jones and a niece GiGi Nash all of Chandler, Texas. Ms. Jones is survived by her brother, Egbert, D. Jones and his wife, Mildred S. of Winston Salem, NC. She is also survived by a niece, Sonya Tiller and her husband Kyle of Trump, Texas and their children, Heather, Holly and Dillon and a nephew Craig Jones of Tyler, Texas and his son Josh and two great nephews Scott and Brandon Nash of Tyler, Texas. Faye dearly loved her nieces and nephews and they returned this love to her. During her high school years, Faye was an outstanding basketball player at Franklin High School and she enjoyed still watching sports on TV especially basketball and golf. In her later years, it was a certainty that she would call her brother to discuss the night’s basketball game without regard to the time the game might end. Her working career was with Cato Corporation traveling throughout the Southeast supervising new store openings. During the last few years of her career, she settled in Mt. Airy and became Manager of the local Cato Store. During this time, she became a loving caregiver to her aging parents until their death. Faye was a devoted and active member of Highland Park Baptist Church. She continued to volunteer at the church even as her health continued to decline. She dearly loved her church and her church family. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 30, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Highland Park Baptist Church with Mr. Robert Holder and the Rev. James Reames officiating. Burial alongside her parents will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. Ms. Jones will be carried to the church to lie-in-state one hour prior to the service. The family especially wishes to thank and pay tribute to each and every person at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home for the tender love, care and respect given to Faye during her many days there while making her final transition. Donations of remembrance can be made to Highland Park Baptist Church, the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home or to the charity of the donor’s choice. Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy is serving the Jones family. Online condolences may be made at www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
