Ms. Leela Marie Spencer

Ms. Leela Marie Spencer, 65, of Mt. Airy, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2018. She was born in Floyd County, VA, December 6, 1952 to the late Andy Washington and Florence Gertrude Craighead Spencer. She is survived by her daughter, Melinda Frazier, her son, Adam Hawks; grandchildren, Kendall Belle Hawks, Travis Stevens, Dawn Frazier, Joshua Frazier and Dalton Frazier; sisters, Cora Lee, Nadine Velnar and Sarah Jane Spencer; brothers, Bill, Raymond, and George Spencer. In addition to her parents, Ms. Spencer was preceded in death by an infant son, Jason Wavern Hawks; and a brother, Amos Spencer. A graveside service will be conducted at 3:00 PM Sunday, January 14, 2018 at Sandy Ridge Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Arwood Edwards and V.J. Hawks officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday from 2:00 until 3:00. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Moody Funeral Home, P.O.
