Mrs. Vena Callie White Draughn, age 87, of Dobson, passed away Sunday, November 1, 2015 at her home. Vena was born May 5, 1928 to the late Charlie Cleveland and Edna Corder White. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Mr. Kelly Ray Draughn, who passed away in 1991.
Vena was a homemaker, a talented seamstress, and a faithful member of Fairview Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, and was a devoted member of the choir.
She is survived by her six children and their spouses; Vicki and Joe Norman of Greensboro; Joy and Felix Freeman of Roanoke, Virginia; Terri and Ronnie Cockerham of Dobson; Lisha and Greg High of Dobson; Robert Draughn of Dobson and Dana Draughn of Mount Airy; Lorri and Charles Finch of Trinity; one sister and brother-in-law, Brenda W. and Joe Davis of Dobson; eleven grandchildren; Joseph and Kelly Norman of Augusta, Georgia; Ben and Melissa Norman of Greensboro; Meredith and Craig Kitson of West Jefferson; Maggie Cockerham of King; Cory High of Charlotte; Eric High of Charlotte; Ryan High of Boone; Garrett Draughn of Boone; Elliott Draughn of Wingate; Erin Draughn of Wingate; and Carson Draughn of Mount Airy; and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, November 5, 2015 from 12-2 PM at Fairview Baptist Church. Funeral Service will follow at 2 PM at the church with Dr. Blue Bryan and Reverend Lee Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Fairview Baptist Church, 7659 NC highway 268, Dobson, NC 27017. Moody-Davis Funeral Service in Dobson is serving the Draughn family.
