Ms. Vonna June Self Easter

Ms. Vonna June Self Easter, 72 of Mount Airy, passed away on Monday evening, April 10, 2017 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Vonna was born in Pulaski County, Virginia on June 17, 1944 to Virginia Carty Self Black and Vince McKinley Self. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend who will be dearly missed. Left to cherish her memories is two daughters and a son-in-law, Lisa Easter Tilley and Olivia Easter Roberts and husband Jamey, grandchildren, Jessica Tilley, Lacey and Rodney Jones, Kelci and Gaelan McBean, Taylor Easter, William Easter, Rachelle Wright, and Luke Roberts; great-grandchildren, Sarah Lambert, Emma Lambert, and Zaylie Draughn; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Katherine Brannock, and Glenda and Burley Johnson; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Edward H. (Sam) and Linda Self, and David and Charlotte Self; several nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Troy Goins. Ms. Easter was preceded in death by her parents, Vince and Vergie Self and Virginia and David Black; two sisters, Shirley Upchurch and Betty Smith; and a brother, William Douglas Self. A Celebration of Life for Ms. Easter will be held at Friendly Tabernacle Church on Saturday April 15, 2017 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Joe Thompson officiating. The family would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank You” to the first responders who were there to help in the time of need, Mount Airy Fire Department, Surry County Emergency Services and Northern Hospital of Surry County.
