On Wednesday, December 30, 2020, Myra June Parsons met the One who gave His life for her. Our precious Lord took her hand and led her to her eternal home where she met up with her Nanny Barbara, Aunt Joyce, Granny Kate, and many more of those that she loved and missed so much. Myra lived her life as God intended for her to do, bringing joy and spreading happiness all around her. Myra was the daughter every parent dreamed of having, as she always put others before herself. Not only did Myra have a humble heart, but she was a beautiful, brave, and strong woman who was an amazing blessing from God. Myra loved life, loved people, and was talented in many things, such as playing her saxophone. Myra was known and loved for her joyful, infectious laugh. She was a graduate of North Surry High School and went on to Wake Forest University, where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology. Myra then went on to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she obtained her master’s degree in social work and became a licensed clinical social worker. Myra chose to pursue this field because she devoted her life to others to ensure they could have a better life. However, Myra’s greatest achievement in this life was the day her name was written in the Lamb’s book of life when she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Myra is survived by her mother, Lisa Goins Parsons; her father, Ronald Wade Parsons; her brother, Tyler Ronald Parsons and his girlfriend, Sarah Lynn Baumgardner; a special aunt, Anita Goins Marion; and her grandmother, Vera Parsons. Myra is preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Barbara Goins Cain; her maternal grandfather, Wilcher Goins; her maternal step-papa, Hurley Cain; her maternal great-grandmother, Bessie Gambill Towe; her maternal great-grandfather, Cicero Towe; her maternal great-grandmother, Emma Chandler Goins; her maternal great-grandfather, Joseph Goins; her paternal grandfather, Wade Parsons; her paternal great-grandmother, Bell Bolt; her paternal great-grandfather, Jesse Bolt; her paternal great-grandmother, Katie Parsons; and her paternal great-grandfather, Thurmond Parsons. A graveside service will be held Thursday, January 7, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Skyline Memory Gardens, with the Rev. Jake Penley officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Due to the current COVID situation, please be mindful to wear a face mask and social distance. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made the Myra June Parsons Foundation for Abused Children, P.O. Box 346, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
