Mrs. Myrtle Foy “Sis” Hennis, 99, widow of Samuel Andrew Hennis, Jr., passed away Monday, September 11, 2017, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. She was born June 12, 1918, in Mount Airy, the daughter of the late Herbert Miles and Emma Hines Foy. Mrs. Hennis was a faithful member and supporter of First Baptist Church in Mount Airy and a member of the Dorcas Sunday School Class and Robert and Betty Jo Hensley Circle. Sis was a charter member and second president of the Garden Gate Garden Club, a member of the Mount Airy Arts and Crafts Guild, and the Entre Nous Book Club. She attended Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, VA, and remained a loyal and supportive alumnus. She is survived by a son, Samuel Andrew “Andy” Hennis of Mount Airy; a daughter, Suzanne Foy Hennis of Mount Airy; a daughter and son-in-law, Pamela Hennis Fallis and Don of Wilmington; five grandchildren, Susan Hope Hennis of Allen TX, Robert Miles Hennis of Plano, TX, John Foy Moss, II of Mount Pleasant, SC, Steven Andrew Fallis of Wilmington, NC, and Katherine Hines Fallis of Raleigh; six great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, James Andrew Hennis, and two brothers, Robert Edward Foy, Sr. and Herbert Miles Foy, Jr. A graveside service will be held Thursday, September 14, 2017, at 2:00 PM at Oakdale Cemetery in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Jay Meadows and Dr. Roger Gilbert officiating. The Hennis family will receive friends in the Fireside Room at First Baptist Church in Mount Airy on Thursday from 12:30 until 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 714 North Main Street, Mount Airy, NC 27030; or the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017. The Hennis family wishes to thank the caregivers of Ridgecrest Retirement Community, Northern Hospital of Surry County, and the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home for their compassion and wonderful care given to Sis. Moody Funeral Services of Mount Airy is serving the Hennis family.
