Myrtle Alene Felts Newman

Mrs. Myrtle Alene "Kate" Newman, 91, of Lambsburg, VA, passed away Friday, March 6, 2009, at her home. Mrs. Newman was born April 17, 1917, in Carroll County, VA, to the late John and Rose Bobbitt Felts. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Newman is survived by three daughters and a son-in-law, Annie Isom of Mount Airy, Delma Bryant of Lambsburg, VA, and Hazel and Ritchie Gunnell of Cana, VA; three sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Kathleen Newman of Fries, VA, Glenn and Tammy Newman of Stuart, VA, and Merle and Sandra Newman of Cana, VA; twelve grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Newman was preceded in death by her husband, Buford Newman; a son, Garnett Newman; a daughter-in-law, Sudie Jo Newman; three sisters; three brothers; and a half brother. A graveside service will be conducted Sunday, March 8, 2009, at 2:00 PM at Chestnut Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, by the Rev. Wes Mosteller and the Rev. Brian Shupe. The family will receive friends Saturday, March 7, 2009, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
