Myrtle Draughn Simpson

Mrs. Myrtle Magdalene Draughn "Nannie" Simpson, 94, of Dobson, widow of Floyd Allen Simpson, passed away on Sunday November 12, 2006 at Central Continuing Care Nursing Center while surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Surry County on January 20, 1912 to the late Ed and Nicie Draughn. Mrs. Simpson was a homemaker and was the oldest living member of Piney Grove Baptist Church. A loving mother, grandmother and friend, she leaves to cherish her memory a son and daughter-in-law Hobert and Pat Simpson of Mt. Airy; three grandchildren and spouses, Terry and Tammy Simpson of Mt. Airy, Grant and Barbara Simpson of East Bend and Craig Simpson of Pfafftown; a step-grandson and wife Stacy and Billy Hester of Winston-Salem; a great-grandson T. C. Simpson of Mooresville, NC; two step great-grandsons T. J. Holder and Joshua Holder both of Mt. Airy. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Simpson was preceded in death by a daughter, Anna Belle Simpson; a son Willie Gray Simpson and an infant son. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home of Dobson with Rev. Jimmy Tucker officiating. Burial will follow in Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Liberty Baptist Church 172 Liberty Church Road Dobson, NC 27017. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Central Continuing Care for the love and care given to Mrs. Simpson during her stay there.
